Upcoming Events in Montgomery IL

The Aurora Navy League Council 47 will hold its monthly dinner meeting on Tuesday, September 21. The meeting will be held in the private dining room at the rear of restaurant: (east side): Grandma's Table Restaurant, 1700 Douglas Rd., Montgomery, IL 60538 (just north of Rte 30). From the west, take US-30 to Douglas Rd. north.

A reception will begin at 5:15PM followed by dinner at 6:00PM. The dinner includes a choice of three entrees (fish, chicken, or beef), soup or salad, dinner rolls, vegetables, dessert, and nonalcoholic drink. The cost is $17 all-inclusive (alcoholic drinks can be purchased separately).

The after dinner speaker will be Ms. Cindy Worsley, Executive Director of Fox Valley Older Adult Services (FVOAS). Her topic is "The Programs of Fox Valley Older Adult Services; The Importance of Senior Centers." As we face an aging population this is a topic of increasing importance to all of us. A Q&A session will follow the talk.

Ms. Worsley has been the Executive Director of FVOAS for a total of 15 years. She also serves as State President of the Illinois Senior Centers, and had been its Executive Director. She also served as the President of the Illinois Adult Day Services Association. She holds a Masters Degree in Adult Education.

You do not need to be a member of the Navy League to attend the meeting--the general public is welcome. The Navy League is a civilian organization started by President Teddy Roosevelt to provide civilian support the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and Sea Cadets.
