The race in front of the Village Hall. Pre-registration packet pick up and day-of-race registration will be held at the "NEW" Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River St., Montgomery, IL.

The 5th Annual Montgomery 5K River Run is a family friendly event that features a flat, fast running course along both sides of the beautiful Fox River. A 3K River Walk is also available. Participants receive a t-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Hesed House, Inc. of Aurora. Race Starts at 9:00 a.m. this year. Montgomery Village Hall 200 N. The 5K Run is a USATF Course, Certification Code: IL-06047JW. The course goes up and down both sides of the scenic Fox River. Splits will be given every mile. Overhead digital clock at finish. Water station and first aid on the course. Computerized race results will be provided by Race Time. The 3K Walk start and finishes at Montgomery Park. The shorter course is designed to be a family friendly course for walkers of all ages. Pets, kids and strollers are all welcome. Race starts at 9:00 a.m. this year!

Trophies will be given to the first two male and female finishers in each of these age categories: 12 & Under, 13-19, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71 & Over. The overall male and female winners will receive plaques. Those participating in the 3K Walk are not eligible for trophies or awards. Children, ages 4-12, participating in the walk will receive participation ribbons.

Participants in the 5K Run or the 3K Walk will receive a Montgomery 5K River Run t-shirt and refreshments after the run. All registrations received by September 10th will be guaranteed a shirt on race day. Late registrants will not be guaranteed a shirt on race day but one can be picked up at the Montgomery Village Hall by December 1st, 2010.

A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Hesed House, Inc. of Aurora which provides services to low-income and homeless people in our community.

• 3 volunteers are needed to help at the registration table. Volunteers will be registering race day participants and handing out t-shirts to those that have already registered.

• 6 volunteers are needed to serve as course marshals along the course. Course marshals direct runners, cheer them along and ensure everyone is following the rules of the course and race.

• 2 volunteers are needed to start the course clocks at or near the start line, take them to the mile markers before the first runner arrives and bring them back when the last runner goes by.

• 3 volunteers needed to hand out water at the half way mark.

• 6 volunteers needed at the finish line to help time runners. There is equipment available from the timing company that volunteers will use to click runners in when they cross the line. Volunteers will also need to tear bid numbers off of runners’ numbers.

• 4 volunteers are needed at the finish line to hand out water, fruit and granola bars.

• 1 volunteer is needed to take pictures of the start of the race and the awards ceremony.
